I’d like to claim the credit for getting the Cubs in the playoffs, but I’ve done a piss-poor job of documenting my efforts. I have been watching, rooting, dying and rising from the ashes for the past month while we struggled to beat back the Brew Crew.

I don’t know if I’ve shared the fact that before the luck of the draw made me a Cubs devotee, I had been a fan of the Orioles for the past 15 years.

They got shellacked 30-3 by the Rangers last night.

I’ll be expecting the Cubs to do what it takes to keep me a fan so that no bad juju rubs off of them. They couldn’t stand another curse.

I haven’t written anything here in forever. That doesn’t mean I haven’t been avidly following and rooting for our Small Bears. I’ve just had a lot of other stuff on my plate of late.

No excuse.

But I am headed to the Friendly Confines on Friday for the first time in a decade to watch the Cubs whup up on the Cards and celebrate the 40th birthday of my best friend and Cubs sempai, the DogDoc .

Rumor has it that it might be twenty degrees cooler than here in Nash-hell. Praise the lord and pass the Old Style!
